Hey Horizons' Kids...

I promised to log on and blog a bit for my 5th and sixth grade class. I know they are going to be praying for our safety and for the kids we will minister to so here is an early SHOUT OUT to the crew. If I get a chance to blog "on-the-road" I will try to give you some juicy travel details. ONLY 5 days until we fly out of here. yay! ~ Angela

In my Thoughts

In my Thoughts I’m already there, and standing in
Your presence.
High on a mountain above the clouds far from
all Iknow,
In a world so different from my own, thank you
that you are near.
Humbled as I see this land before me, and the
people and their oppression.
But thankful in Thee knowing You have not
forgotten them.
Slow to change, yet hope remains they will
know of Your glory.
Privileged to serve as I share Your Word and
demonstrate Your love,
Blessed all shall be when someday we see our
great God above.

Travel Recommendations

We were into the second leg of our journey to Bolivia, having lunch in the Dallas Fort Worth airport. Everything appeared normal – at least to the naked eye as chatter, laughter & food were enjoyed by all who shall remain nameless. (shh...Tony, Cynthia, Cari, Mary & Judy).

Time was fast approaching to board our flight from DFW to Miami. All but one went to the gate, with the hold out making a ‘quick pit’. The pits were very busy that day, which, evidently is the signal for airport jesters to zoom into action, wreaking havoc on even the most seasoned of travelers, let alone this pit stopper.

With no regard for life or limb – or at least for timely boarding, the jesters high-jacked one of the team members, frantically running them up and down the terminal in search of the hidden plane.

Not wanting to bore you, I’ll just cut to the good stuff and say…Ultimately, and by the grace of God, the plane was found, the high-jacked one returned to the team – quite the worse for wear, rather soggy and eyes still leaking. Very embarrassed, and forever humbly indebted to such great teammates who insisted the plane not leave until all were accounted for.

Since forewarned is forearmed, but in no way meant to alarm anyone comes the suggestion...mmm...this strong recommendation, No one ever enter the pits alone. The buddy system is highly recommended!

I can see the wave comming

It seems like not too long ago, I was contemplating and praying on where God could use me. Filling out gifts of the spirit in bible study, talking with Pastor Tony and then filling out applications for this trip. At the time, this all felt like a dream. Bolivia... Where?? Bogota??? Drug Cartels!!????? No Silly... Bolivia, say it with me BOW LIVE E A, Bolivia!! Somewhere in South America... I think! I remember thinking,"November, that is sooo far away, I'll have plenty of time for praying, planning and preparing my heart. Haha. Wow has time gone by! We are now on our wake or boogie board just off of shore and can see a wave out there, distant, put from where we now, we can tell it is building momentum. Yes, I know, ketchup kid, "We're not going fast enough or going the wrong direction!" God has put us in the right direction,His momentum is read y to catch! By the time it gets here and it will be soon, we will be catching air and having a ride of our lifetime! I can't wait!! God has been and will continue to prepare our hearts and minds for this life touching event. Did I say that I can't wait?
So it looks like we now have two nicknames for our teammates, ketchup kid and melon head, I'll protect the innocent! You know who you are! Who's next?..ha ha.

I have done a little more research on Bolivia after reading , " Birth of a fly" Here is another little critter to look out for...
this little guy is the"Kissing bug", believe me.. you want NOTHING to to with it. If you see it, don't let it share your bed and tell someone. It is the carrier, rather vector of Chagas disease, bad bad stuff.
Well... I need to move on to preparing my presentation for two weeks.
Blessing to all!

Like it was yesterday...

And the countdown begins...only 30 days until we board our plane headed to Bolivia. As my excitement grows, I can see and hear the hustle & bustle of city life in Cochabamba. And car horns, I hear lots of them! Like it was yesterday, the driver pulls the van into a parking space outside a restaurant - not just any restaurant. This fabulous restaurante is home to the BEST steak anywhere! Just ask Tony.

The sounds, the smells, the chatter of the Bolivian people – l don’t even have to close my eyes to be there. So vivid are the memories of our Vision Trip in May, the trip where I fell in love with a most wonderful people. And the children – oh the children, it took all of maybe a nanosecond to fall in love with them.

My heart confuses my mind…. I long so very deeply to be among these children again, to see - to share – to help. It brings great joy and a smile to my face. Yet simultaneously, there is pain in my heart. I struggle to reconcile these strong yet opposing feelings that have taken up residence within me.
